Varuna Strategies

Who We Are

Varuna Strategies was formed by Joe Ayoub, a respected Boston trial attorney and business advisor. With more than 30 years of experience, he has become known for his ability to address and resolve business and legal issues even in situations where the potential for controversy or animosity is significant. To provide expertise in other more specific areas when needed, Varuna Strategies has aligned itself with a host of leading partners in the fields of Business Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Branding and Public Relations, Crisis Management and Government Relations.

Joe Ayoub started Varuna Strategies to become both a resource and a partner to companies that want to move forward with issues in a way that is as non-adversarial, cost and time efficient and value-enhancing as possible. As a business attorney for more than three decades, he handled and tried cases involving almost every business issue that arises in a private company setting. He understands how issues can grow into business problems that grow into personal hostility. Leveraging that experience, Varuna Strategies helps align the interests of management, investors, family members and shareholders that have diverged for reasons not necessarily related to the best interests of the business. Varuna's goal is to evaluate and then resolve issues quickly, fairly, and in the best interest of the individuals and the company.

Background

Robinson & Cole

Prior to Varuna Strategies, Ayoub was a partner in the Business Litigation Group of Robinson & Cole, a regional law firm of about 250 attorneys.

His practice included civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and legal risk management. He handled claims involving closely held companies, breach of fiduciary duty, diversion of corporate opportunity, interference with contractual relations, and other business torts.

He has also handled claims involving contract issues, trade secrets, proprietary information, intellectual property, and partnership disputes, and represented clients in more than 300 bench trials, jury trials, adversarial hearings, and administrative hearings, successfully resolving claims valued well in excess of $1.5 billion.

Past Law Firms

Before joining Robinson & Cole, he was a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm of 1,800 attorneys and previously was a partner in Nutter McClennen & Fish, a Boston based law firm of about 160 attorneys.
